Sebastian – Vero Beach Florida recently hosted the 2010 annual National Scholastic Surfing Association East Coast Championships — the 17th held here on the Treasure Coast at the Sebastian inlet.  The 4 day event did not disappoint the 200 contestants who praised the consistent waves, commonly thought to be the best surfing venue on the east coast.  Summer usually calms the waves in this area, however, so if you are looking for a challenge, try to visit in the early spring.
