On Sept. 1, at approx. 7:30 PM, our friends Joe, Denise and their daughter Jaclyn were walking on the beach in Vero Beach, FL when they saw these baby loggerheads emerge from their nest. We knew they were loggerheads, because it was a marked nest. It took less than ten minutes for about 50 turtles make their frenzied dash to the ocean. ”It’s funny how things go,” said Joe, ”When we arrived at the beach, I asked Jaclyn, “So, which way should we walk, right or left. She said, “right”, which turned out to be the right choice. It was all a matter of being in the right place at the right time.” Our friends were careful to watch at a distance and not use any flash for their photo so as not to interfere with the hatchlings successful progress into the ocean.
